This music festival, held in Gdansk every two years in July, is a good opportunity for every folk music enthusiast to get to know the traditional music of Poland and other countries of the Baltic region. There are ten countries represented in the festival each year: Lithuania, Latvia, Denmark, Ireland, Estonia, Greenland, Russia, Norway, Sweden Participatory budgeting, introduced at first in Porto Alegre, is a popular concept among Polish local governments and the Tricity, consisting of Gdansk, Sopot and Gdynia, is Poland’s leader in it. While Gdansk has the edge in architecture, Gdynia has a nicer and more accessible waterfront, better & cheaper restaurants (including some great burger places), a lovely forested park, and more affordable housing. Gdansk is a short train ride away when you want to hit the museums or cultural events there.
